The obsession towards the breed encouraged us to keep both the variations of the Great Danes. While we adored the European Dane for its beautiful head piece, heavier bone and well proportionate structure, we also admired the American Dane for its slender appearance, finer angulation and well balanced structure. As we were mesmerized with the unmatched charm of both the types; we were compelled to own both the extremes of the breed.

We acknowledge the fact that it is a challenging task to grip the standards of each type and do justice when breeding as the equation becomes more complex. Therefore, we have opted not to interbreed between types in our breeding program until we feel the need to compliment each type with a particular trait to produce Danes which would depict the precise breed blue-prints.

FCI

Almost square in build, this applies particularly to males. The length of the body (point of sternum to point of buttocks) should not exceed height at withers in dogs by more than 5%, in bitches by more than 10%. Height at withers to be at least 80 cm for dogs and at least 72 cm for bitches.

AKC

The male should appear more massive throughout than the bitch, with larger frame and heavier bone. In the ratio between length and height, the Great Dane should be square. In bitches, a somewhat longer body is permissible, providing she is well proportioned to her height. Coarseness or lack of substance are equally undesirable. The male shall not be less than 30 inches at the shoulders, but it is preferable that he be 32 inches or more, providing he is well proportioned to his height. The female shall not be less than 28 inches at the shoulders, but it is preferable that she be 30 inches or more, providing she is well proportioned to her height. Danes under minimum height must be disqualified.
